Uneori e greu sa întâlnim viitorul
Iată niște exemple:

- 1903: “The horse is here to stay but the automobile is only a novelty – a fad.” — President of the Michigan Savings Bank advising Henry Ford’s lawyer, Horace Rackham, not to invest in the Ford Motor Company.
- 1946: “Television won’t be able to hold on to any market it captures after the first six months. People will soon get tired of staring at a plywood box every night.” — Darryl Zanuck, 20th Century Fox.
- 1981: “Cellular phones will absolutely not replace local wire systems.” — Marty Cooper, inventor.
- 2006: “Everyone’s always asking me when Apple will come out with a cell phone. My answer is, ‘Probably never.'” — David Pogue, The New York Times.
- 2007: “There’s no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share.” — Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO.
În vara lui 1988, când am terminat ASE, am fost repartizat la o fabrică de textile. Nu aveam cum să îmi imaginez viitorul pe care îl trăim azi. Comunismul părea de neclintit.
În SUA, la 1 august 1988, era lansat Microsoft Office. MS-DOS 4.01 a fost lansat în noiembrie 1988. Procesorul Intel 80386SX (cunoscut sub numele 386) a fost lansat tot în 1988. La ASE lucrasem pe cartele, un pic, nu aveam datele pentru a întelege cum se va dezvolta IT-ul. Nu aveam atunci informația necesară și nici viziunea pentru a înțelege cum va evolua economia mondială.
Din 1991 am ieșit din țară, am calătorit, am citit, am stat de vorbă cu oameni; cu timpul am acumulat informații utile pentru a înțelege în ce direcții se schimbă lumea.
Astăzi, pe lângă un ocean de minciuni manipulatoare, e multă informație corectă accesibilă despre orice, inclusiv despre Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Blockchain, Quantum computing, Everything-as-a-service (XaaS), nanoboti, vehicule autonome etc; azi pare mai ușor de imaginat viitorul, față de acum trei decenii.
Acum stai pe plaja informației și admiri mai multe valuri. Dacă poți prevedea care val va ajunge departe și dacă te vei putea sui pe el, ai putea face lucruri interesante, ai putea trăi mai bine.
Acum câțiva ani doream să mă sui într-un vehicul autonom, pe Calea Victoriei. Văzusem filmul “The Space Between Us”; într-o secvență, Gary Oldman se odihnea într-o mașină autonomă aflată în mers și imi plăcuse.
Acum mă gândesc să întreb Perplexity cum ar putea fi următorul neprevazut.
